At the tail end of last yeat I had a conversation about a possible sculpt/resin toy based on a concept from David Bishop (@rundmb) and Jon Paul Kaiser (@jonpaulkaiser). Here is the first prototype; he hasn't got a name yet so we'll call him 'X' for now.

If you fancy seeing him in the flesh so to speak I'll be smuggling him in my backpack to London next week at the Kidrobot Fatcap event on Thursday.

Well after a week on and off of sculpting and smoothing here's my prototype for my next piece - a 4.5inch Martin Longbottom cutey :-D The hat is one I had made for the original version so this little guy will get his own and also a pair of 'geek' glasses. The time has come for a new chapter to start in my life, and it's BIG NEWS!

From 28th November I will be heading out of the corporate world of graphic design to start working for myself again, and it's going to be fun.

I've got lots of whopping projects with some really great artists lined up, so keep checking back for information as and when I can talk about it.

I'm also looking for COMMISIONS to help put food on the table at UME HQ, so if you’d like me to work on a project drop me an email (umetoys @ googlemail.com) My background is graphic design (major brands) offline and online, but I’m always up for sculpting, toy work and illustrations. I have some availability late December and the end of January – but if you fancy a chat, I am up for talking shop anytime.

Speaking of toy work – I’d love to get involved in more shows in 2012 – if you’ve got one or know of one coming up that you think I’d rock, let me know.

Talking to the great Matt (Big Kev's Geek Stuff) last week at the New York comic con I found out he was a fellow Disney geek :-D The booth was an amazing home for me over the 4 days of the con, so I wanted a way to say thanks properly for letting me share.

So when I was out and about with Argonauts Resins in the City we popped to the Disney store and got the above 'Zero' to custom for Matt. I Wasn't really sure what to do, so I chopped off his ears and made a dapper 'WolfBoy' in honour of facial hair everywhere.

Just a quick post before I get onto the real ones about NYCC - Have to say a HUGE thanks to Eric of Argonauts Resins for putting me up at comic con - what a star. Also the guys at Big Kevs Geek Stuff for letting me share theor booth - awesome times! Massive thanks to the Mayor of the cultyard Smack a true gent and my new best friend - Kenner Girl :-) Good times.
